PREPARATION

C L E A N S E

We suggest using a body wash formulated from plant based ingredients (look for the eco-friendly brands) or a pH balanced body wash. Avoid products containing SLS (Sodium Laurel Sulphate). Avoid washing your hair the day of your tan. Conditioner residue down your back can form a barrier between the tan solution and your skin and may affect the final result.

H Y D R A T E

Make sure you are moisturising your skin regularly in the lead up to your tan for skin to make a healthy base for your spray tan. Drinking 2L of water per day also helps your skin stay in top condition.

D E – F U Z Z

Hair removal must be done at least 24 hours before your tan. This includes waxing, shaving, epilating, and depilatory creams. Your hair follicles need approximately 24 hours to recover and close after hair removal. Tanning too soon risks solution being trapped – not a good look. For this reason, you cannot have a spray tan performed in the same appointment as any waxing services.

E X F O L I A T E

Exfoliate your skin 1-2 days prior to tanning however please avoid exfoliating the day of. Eco Tan will not work properly if you have exfoliated the day of your tan. We recommend using a glove or loofah to exfoliate. Avoid oil based scrubs - these will leave a barrier on your skin and prevent your tan from working properly.

F R E S H C A N V A S

Before coming to your tanning appointment, have a shower to cleanse your skin to remove any dirt or product. After your shower, refrain from applying any lotions, deodorants, perfumes, or cosmetics as these can interfere with the tan. If you are coming straight from work, you may use our ‘freshening up’ station to remove any product.

B L I N G B L I N G

Please leave your jewellery at home or in your purse as you cannot wear it during your tan. Wedding rings are OK if you never take them off otherwise.

S U I T U P

You may wear your own underwear, one of the disposable G-strings provided, or go totally nude. Whatever you are most comfortable with. Just be mindful even on a light tan, the tan-lines can be obvious, so less is best. For this reason, most ladies go topless, however if you’d prefer not to, I suggest a strapless bra or bandeau top. Breastfeeding mums are advised to cover the breasts when tanning as a precaution for baby.

W H A T T O B R I N G

Please bring loose, dark coloured clothing, and thongs to wear after your tan. A comfy dress or pyjamas are great. Please note we do not advise putting your bra back on immediately after your tan as it will often rub where the straps and band sit.

AFTERCARE

W A I T

The spray solution needs to sit on your skin for a certain period of time. Please check with me if you are unsure how long to leave your solution on for. The solution used was specifically selected for you by a professional. Do not leave an express solution on the skin longer than advised. Doing so risks undesirable results, for which we claim no responsibility. Those sleeping in a 8hr solution are advised to wear long pyjama pants & top to prevent rubbing
A rough guide to developing times:

Bella Bronze: 2hrs light, 4hrs medium, 6hrs dark
Eco Tan TWO: 4-6 hours

R I N S E

After the wait period has lapsed, you need to rinse the solution off. A quick 1-2 minute warm shower is all you need for this. If you’re express tanning, don’t be alarmed when you notice the bronzer washing off and your tan looking light. The bronzer is just a cosmetic colour guide and is supposed to wash off. Your tan will continue to develop over the next 24 hours. Do not use any products in your rinse shower. Water only.

R O U T I N E

Subsequent showers may be as per normal, but please use a plant based body wash in place of soap. If you can’t find plant based, make sure it contains no SLS or Sulphates. Standard soaps/gels will strip your tan; therefore, it won’t last as long and will be patchy when fading. Pat dry with the towel while your tan is still fresh.

Moisturise. After. Every. Shower. Healthy hydrated skin lasts longer before shedding naturally, therefore your tan will look better for longer! Again, no SLS, and eco-friendly brands are usually best.

Hair removal such as shaving, waxing, and depilatory creams will strip your tan, so please avoid this until after your tan has mostly faded out. Hopefully you saw me a few days before your tan for a wax and don’t need to worry about this!

A V O I D

Soaps, SLS (Sodium Laurel Sulphate), AHA (Alpha Hydroxil Acid), Glycolic Acid, Sulphates. Hot baths, chlorinated pools & spas will reduce the life of your tan so avoid where possible. If you are off on holidays and can’t avoid these activities, apply a thick waterproof sunscreen 30 minutes before swimming to form a barrier between your tan and the water

Try to avoid acne products, skin renewing products, masks & scrubs, exfoliating products, gloves & sponges whilst you are enjoying your tan as these products are designed to exfoliate your skin and will cause patchiness to your flawless tan.

You may start exfoliating after 7-10 days when you notice your tan starting to fade to help it fade evenly and to prepare your skin for your next tan.

N O T E

There is no SPF in your spray tan. Wear sun screen lotion whenever you are going out in the sun.
